Suman began his career in the field of commercial and investment banking in 1990, therefore he has extensive experience in the field. He spent more than ten years in prominent roles with ANZ Grindlays and Standard Chartered Bank in India and Nepal. He then went on to become the first CEO of Laxmi Bank, where he served for three consecutive terms, coming up with, overseeing, and growing a number of initiatives and subsidiaries for the bank.
