In Nepal, the youths are not the future of their country. They are the future of their own families first.
Even in the present day, a large portion of the countries’ youths come from a background of scarcity. According to the hierarchy of needs, they need to first properly take care of their ‘Physiological, Safety and Belonging’ needs, before moving on to their ‘Esteem and Self-Actualization’ needs. Therefore, we do not see a lot of youth ‘leaders’ be it in business or politics in Nepal.
It’s the current generation’s duty to rise up from scarcity and help their own family realize the wants that they have, from as big as buying their first house to live in to as small as getting a house helper to help with the house chores.
Relating to the above,
“My mom is old. I need to get married so that she gets help in the kitchen.”, is a sad statement that is born out of the inability to even think about hiring a full-time house helper as a son.
“My mom is old. I need to get married so that she doesn’t have to worry about my finances.”, is a sad statement that is born out of the inability to even think about getting a rewarding career as a daughter in her late-teens.
I know there is more to the story behind these statements because I hear these statements from my friends first-hand.
But, do put in the effort to fulfill your family’s needs first, and then, the nation would already prosper from your efforts to become a capable individual leading a well-rounded family. Always approach things from first principle thinking.
Do not get brainwashed.
